WOOT Woot!! 4 lbs gone this week

So , it's been a rough week, or so I thought. I had a cupcake and a Blooming Onion (shared) and on one particularly hot, humid day, I gave in and had an Orange Vanilla Coolatta (small) So I thought I probably hadn't lost anything. But, I am happy to say, I lost another 4 lbs.

I am continuing to walk 4-8 miles a day, with 2 days a week running 1 mile each day. Still working on building that up a bit, I am hoping to get to 1- 1/2 miles in the next week or so.

On another note, I have found my new favorite snack. One apple, cut up, some Vanilla Yogurt to dip it in, with a bit of Granola in the yogurt. Filling and so yummy.

For anyone out there who wants to get in shape and lose the weight, believe me when I say, if I can do it, you can do it. I am a 49 year old, way out of shape x-smoker (yeah me, although I am out of patches and still have two weeks to go, so it is getting really tough not to pick up a cig, Hopefully we get paid on a job in the next day or so , I really need to get this last box of patches before I have to start all over again) who let herself go. And yet, I am slowly dropping those pounds. IT IS POSSIBLE TO GET BACK IN SHAPE, YOU CAN DO IT!!!

6.5 lbs down

1-1/2 weeks of serious healthy eating, walking 4-8 miles a day (depending on how humid it is out) and more water than I have ever drank in my life, I am down 6.5 lbs. so far. I have actually been eating healthier for a few weeks and walking every other day, until about a week and a half ago when I started to eat nothing but good for me, low fat foods and adding more fruits and veggies to my diet as well as water. (before then I had probably 4-6 large Sweet Teas a day and no water. And a large chocolate milk every morning for breakfast. I Still have a Chocolate milk in the morning, but a small glass and with only Simply Smart 1% Milk , the only 1% Milk I can stand, it really tastes just like whole milk,I don't feel like I am missing out at all. Store brand 1% Milk tastes too watery to me. And I have 1 Sweet Tea every other day (a small glass) I cannot give either up completely, but figure as long as I don't overdue it, I am good. I am actively searching my local papers and my local Craig's List for a good working treadmill. I need something for the Winter when it's too cold or snowy out to walk. This week coming up, I am going to try running every other day. Starting slow, maybe 1/2 mile to a mile a day, depending what I can handle. It's been forever since I ran. My hope is that by late Spring/early Summer next year I can do a 5K. Anyway, I am thrilled with the 6.5 lbs. I know it will slow down now to a couple of lbs a week, but it gives me the motivation to keep going.

Sorry for the delay

Life got in the way. Super busy with a major yard clean-up, getting ready for a new set of stairs to be put in and a complete redo of my front porch....new picture Window, taking out windows etc.... This house was a fixer upper. An old cabin converted to a 2 story house, with an added on enclosed front porch. The porch has windows all around and we are taking the majority out, adding one picture window and closing up the rest of the window areas, adding sheetrock, paneling etc... so that we can cut down on the draftiness and save on heat. We are also having stairs put in in the front instead of out the back so we finally have a front entrance. The majority will be done before Winter, the inside work will be done over the Winter. Anyway, still doing well with the no smoking (have to figure out the days, lost track)I think all this activity has kept me from going insane or even thinking about a cig. As far as the weight loss, it's weird, I eat well, I have certainly been getting a work out, yet in the last two weeks I have been losing and gaining the same 3 lbs. It's getting a bit discouraging, but I will keep on it. Now that I have a little down time before the remodeling gets under way, I will be walking again daily. Still looking for a nice used, affordable Treadmill or Treadclimber for the Winter months when I can't get out for a walk. I am determined to make this happen, even if it kills me along the way. Keep on checking in and keep on encouraging me, I can do this!

27 miles

ok, so not all at once, but still I deserve a pat on the back, right? For the last 3 days in a row I have walked 8.997 miles each day. Between being able to get some exercise again (6 days smoke free) without huffing and puffing and the almost 9 miles a day walking, I am starting to feel so much better. I am not as tired ,I am more upbeat, I feel a sense of accomplishment, I feel like YEAH ME!!! I ROCK!! LOL!

The only drawback so far, blood blisters on the bottom of my feet. I stupidly grabbed the wrong pair of sneakers the first day, a favorite pair I have had for years that need new cushioned insoles.

Of course I did not realize it until I was on my way back from the first 4.5 miles, then the hard rubber from the inside the shoe (not sure I can explain this right, hope you know what I mean) where the cushioned part had worn away was digging into the bottom of my foot, causing the blood blisters.

I went home, took a nice shower and then soaked my feet for a while. They are still there, but they have turned hard and I am wearing the right shoes when I go for my daily walk. So no further problems.

Tomorrow, I have to wait for a package to come, something SO (Rich, my significant other of 31 years) ordered for a job he has. But I suppose it won't kill me to take a day off, although I hate to stop the momentum I have going. Now if the weight loss goes as well as everything else, I will be a happy camper.

I am not going to state my starting weight (not yet anyway, not ready to put that out there) but I will let you know how much I lose each week. I am forcing myself not to step on that scale until my weigh in day. I know I will make myself nuts if I keep checking.

A couple of days and I will see if this is starting to pay off. Even one pound down will put a smile on my face. It took me a while to put it on, I will not make myself crazy worry about taking it off too fast.

That is one thing I promised myself, no beating myself up. Take it one day at a time, if I fall down, get back up and be proud of even the smallest achievement.

So far, I am making myself proud!!! :)

So, let's talk skin care

That I have been smoke free (YEAH ME!!) , eating nothing but Weight Watchers (more on that after my first weigh in later in the week) and using my new skin care products. Today I am going to talk about the skin care products.

Now, I will admit, I won these from a Facebook contest. I am currently using Dr. Tabor's Skin Care line.Who believes in "Enhancing Beauty from the Inside Out"  I do love what it is doing for my skin, it feels and looks so much better. The fine lines are slowly fading, my skin feels soft and amazing. The pores are getting smaller and even my neck is looking different somehow (although I can't say exactly what the difference is, I just see a difference, know what I mean?

So this skin care line (what I have anyway, not sure if there is more) consists of an exfoliating scrub (to be used in the morning and at night) followed by Dramatic Rescue Anti Aging Wrinkle Serum, Eye CPR, Anti-Aging Moisturizer, 60 Second Face Lift and finally 2 Good Morning Anti Aging Nutrients (2 capsules). At night I use the Exfoliating scrub again and take 2 Good Night Replenishing Beauty Nutrients (2 capsules)

It doesn't take as long or as much effort as is sounds, lol. It's actually pretty easy. I am loving the results. The only drawback for me you ask?.... is the price. In order to buy all these products again, it would cost about $400-450. Not in my budget. So I will enjoy the results, I will use it until it is gone and then sadly I will move on to a new line of anti-aging skin care products (and write about those results too) Have any suggestions on what I should try next? Leave me a comment and let me know.

5 months until I turn 50

I plan to get fit and be as healthy as I have ever been. That means quitting smoking. 3 days smoke free thanks to patches so far, this is going to be my hardest challenge, I have been smoking for 30 years ,with only a year in there (while I was pregnant) with no smoking. I have attempted to quit many times, I am hoping this is the one that sticks. It has to be done, I feel like crap in the morning, coughing up a lung. I wheeze when I lie down, I feel like my chest is tight. I have to stop, my Mom died from COPD/Emphysema. As I said, it's only been 3 days so far, but I can already feel the difference. Keep good vibes coming my way, I need all the help I can get.

Part two of my plan is to lose weight. I am doing my best to eat right, exercise (walking for now, looking for a cheap treadmill) I would love to try one of the many programs out there (Nutrisystem etc..) but no way  can I afford to buy food from them and food for my sweetie too. So my plan is to try eating strictly Weight Watchers meals for a month, see how I progress. My local supermarket always has great deals (5/$10) on them and great varieties for everything for Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner and Snacks. Just going to use it to jump start at this point, but who knows, if it works, maybe I'll stick with it. I have eaten them before and they are good.

And lastly, I will be taking better care of my skin, those fine lines are starting to show....EEK!!

So this will be my place to chronicle my progress. To bitch, moan, share my triumphs and my defeats .I know there will be slip up, I will try not to beat myself up over them, just accept them and move on.

I look forward to sharing this with you all and maybe giving someone else the push they need to take this journey with me,. Want to be fit by 40? 50? or whatever age? Come on along and let's do this together. We can do it, especially with support.

Tell me your story, share your good and bad, or just tell me I'm nuts and can't do this, whatever your thought, tell me all about it.
