27 miles

ok, so not all at once, but still I deserve a pat on the back, right? For the last 3 days in a row I have walked 8.997 miles each day. Between being able to get some exercise again (6 days smoke free) without huffing and puffing and the almost 9 miles a day walking, I am starting to feel so much better. I am not as tired ,I am more upbeat, I feel a sense of accomplishment, I feel like YEAH ME!!! I ROCK!! LOL!

The only drawback so far, blood blisters on the bottom of my feet. I stupidly grabbed the wrong pair of sneakers the first day, a favorite pair I have had for years that need new cushioned insoles.

Of course I did not realize it until I was on my way back from the first 4.5 miles, then the hard rubber from the inside the shoe (not sure I can explain this right, hope you know what I mean) where the cushioned part had worn away was digging into the bottom of my foot, causing the blood blisters.

I went home, took a nice shower and then soaked my feet for a while. They are still there, but they have turned hard and I am wearing the right shoes when I go for my daily walk. So no further problems.

Tomorrow, I have to wait for a package to come, something SO (Rich, my significant other of 31 years) ordered for a job he has. But I suppose it won't kill me to take a day off, although I hate to stop the momentum I have going. Now if the weight loss goes as well as everything else, I will be a happy camper.

I am not going to state my starting weight (not yet anyway, not ready to put that out there) but I will let you know how much I lose each week. I am forcing myself not to step on that scale until my weigh in day. I know I will make myself nuts if I keep checking.

A couple of days and I will see if this is starting to pay off. Even one pound down will put a smile on my face. It took me a while to put it on, I will not make myself crazy worry about taking it off too fast.

That is one thing I promised myself, no beating myself up. Take it one day at a time, if I fall down, get back up and be proud of even the smallest achievement.

So far, I am making myself proud!!! :)

  2. Speaking as someone who has lost 100 lbs, walking is the best thing you can do! That and drinking water. Keep doing this- and one day off once in awhile won't hurt. If you do have a really bad day- that's okay. Just start again.

  4. This is so inspiring! I *so* need to start walking... and fall is my favorite time of year so no excuses. It's almost here, after all! The pollens and allergy-producing stuff in the air will be a lot better in a few weeks, too! I'll do it! :-) Katharina
